Background Information

Oral and maxillofacial surgery requires additional years of hospital-based surgical and anesthesia training after graduation from dental school. As oral and maxillofacial surgeons, Dr. Eckert, Dr. Harsha, Dr. Maxwell and Dr. Cofer manage a wide variety of problems relating to the mouth, teeth and facial regions. Drs. Eckert, Harsha, Maxwell and Cofer provide a full scope of oral and maxillofacial surgery procedures with expertise ranging from dental implant surgery and wisdom tooth removal to corrective jaw surgery. This also includes techniques designed to rebuild bone structure to prepare the jawbone for dental implants with minimal surgical intervention and optimal patient comfort. We can also diagnose and treat facial pain, facial injuries, and fractures.  All of our doctors are on staff at Grand Strand Regional Medical Center and Conway Medical Center. We are very passionate about serving our patients, and we strive to administer patient care of the highest standard.  Our staff is trained in assisting with procedures that can be performed under local anesthesia, nitrous oxide, intravenous (IV) sedation, or outpatient general anesthesia in our brand new, state-of-the-art surgery center.  While undergoing procedures involving anesthesia, patients are continuously monitored during surgery in one of our operating suites and after surgery in our private and spacious recovery suite.  We can ensure that you will have every opportunity to be treated in a comfortable and stress free manner.
